It Is Still People that Makes Your Business Work

It Is Still People that Makes Your Business Work

2020 is finally coming to a close. It has been an extraordinarily long year for most small businesses. Even if yours hasn’t seen a lot of the financial problems that thousands of businesses are seeing, you've definitely had to make some major adjustments that often come with additional cost. Through it all, one part of your business has been a rock, your people.

All of us have been taught a fair share of lessons in 2020. This has resulted in some tough situations that have called for significant compromise. Some businesses have made it work, while some have had a really hard time adjusting to the “new normal”. Regardless of what type of business you run, you have to be impressed with how your staff has reacted to all the things thrown their way this year.

At Fuse Networks, our team has worked extremely hard to put our clients in a position to succeed when many other businesses weren’t. They’ve done a fantastic job of keeping up with the communications that we depend on to fuel our services while we’ve all been so far apart. They have gone above and beyond to keep our business—and our clients’—running smoothly.

Our clients have been great, considering all the pressure they were under. They’ve trusted my team to manage their technology and keep their business running efficiently throughout this whole messy year. We thank every one of our clients who have chosen to work with us. You didn’t have to, and we sincerely appreciate the trust you have in us.

2020 has been a tough year on businesses, and to those entrepreneurs that have had a tough go of it, keep your head up. We know situations that are way beyond your control can get you down, but better times are ahead. Of course, when the calendar turns to 2021, the world isn’t going to go back to pre-pandemic ways. It’s on us to make the adjustments needed to get through this difficult time.

One I’d like to extend to you is to:

Nurture Your People

Your employees are the most important part of your business, and it really doesn't take a lot of effort to extend gratitude. Sure, situations come up with your staff that confound you, but overall, if you convey honest, thoughtful sentiment that you are proud of the work that they do, it can go a long way with them. Spending the time and effort to treat them like the people that they are and not just a resource used for productivity can make a really big difference.

You’ll also want to invest in their career development. Not only can investing in education help your business get better, but it can also give your employees the opportunity to go further in their professional lives. Many businesses today deal with cybercrime and one way you can invest in them and in your business is to train them on how to avoid phishing attacks. The more time and effort you put into nurturing your staff, the better your business will be.

We’re all looking forward to getting through the pandemic and getting our lives back. What specific goals do you have for your business in 2021? Leave your goals in the comments section below and return to our blog for more great technology and business content.
